Ivan Moreno

Ivan is a post-doctoral researcher in ELME lab investigating the evolution of cyanobacteria on a geological time scale. He is broadly interested in using genomics for inferring the major evolutionary pathways that occurred during early Earth and how they led to the diversification of the microbes involved in global biogeochemical cycle changes. Ivan has a PhD in Marine Biology from Scripps Institution of Oceanography at the University of California, San Diego, where he worked on understanding microbial ecology in hot spring environments using genomics and designing microbial physiology experiments, and a BS in Cellular and Molecular Biology from California State University, Dominguez Hills.
