Equity in Graduate Education Consortium
UCSB Earth Science is a current member of the Equity in Graduate Education Consortium (EGE); the national scale up of the California Consortium for Inclusive Doctoral Education (C-CIDE) pilot. The consortium is a research-practice partnership of faculty and administrators in major research universities that aims to reduce inequalities in graduate education, by developing and advancing equitable admissions, recruitment, mentoring, and training practices. The Consortium supports change-ready Ph.D. programs that are rethinking policy and practice, and supports graduate schools in developing a sustainable infrastructure for faculty-to-faculty learning opportunities.
American Geological Union Bridge Program
Our department is a past member of the bridge program. We were one of the first 13 selected by the American Geological Union to join its Bridge program during its inaugural year (see announcement). AGU's Bridge program, part of the Inclusive Graduate Education Network, is dedicated to advancing the Earth and space sciences through increased representation of Hispanics, African Americans, American Indians, Pacific Islanders, Alaska Natives, and Native Hawaiians in geoscience graduate programs.
