Santa Cruz Island Research Station

The University of California administers the Santa Cruz Island Natural Reserve, and maintains a research station on the Island.

Santa Cruz Island is located in the Santa Barbara Channel, some 25 nautical miles from Campus. The western 90% of the island is owned and operated by The Nature Conservancy, with a Cooperative Agreement between the National Park Service for conducting some activities together. The eastern 10% is owned by the National Park Service and is open to public visitation.

White Mountain Research Station

The White Mountain Research Station (WMRS) is a multi-disciplinary, system wide, major research unit of the University of California that was established for two purposes: (1) to provide laboratory facilities to any qualified research investigators who wish to utilize the high mountain or Basin and Range environments in their work; and (2) to serve as a teaching facility for courses conducted in the region.
