Mafic enclaves with aplite halo encased in pod of diorite. The haloes contain concentrically arranged microcrysts of plagioclase and biotite. Host rock for the pod and its enclaves is granodiorite. Three of the four haloes here encase a partial shell of granodiorite in addition to the mafic enclave. Haloes apparently stop around each of the enclaves in this image, but this a loose block broken off on all sides that rests on a homogeneous granite surface.
