POWERLINE EDM Array

Latitude: 34š36'00"
Longitude: 116š37'45"

Number of Bench marks: 4

Number of Surveys to 1993: 4
Date of Initial Survey: 29 June 1992
Date of Latest Survey: 12 December 1992

Trespass Permission: None needed.

Directions: From the town of Yucca Valley, drive about 30 miles north and northwest on State Highway 247 to Bessemer Mine Road. Turn right and proceed about 10 miles northeast to an unsigned dirt road that leads north northeast. Turn left and proceed 4.3 miles to a major dirt road that follows a major powerline. Turn right onto the Powerline Road and proceed about 0.4 miles to a point where the trace of the Camp Rock fault crosses the road. The array is south of the road.

Comments: This array was established across the surface rupture of the 28 June 1992 Landers earthquake on the Camp Rock fault where that fault crosses the powerline road. All bench marks are Class B rod marks. A tie was made to a federal agency bench mark at the intersection of the Powerline Road and the dirt road from Bessemer Mine Road.

Results: No horizontal afterslip was detected at this site between 30 June and 12 December 1992 where 3 m of coseismic right slip was measured.
