UCSB AAPG would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who was able to donate gear for the gear drive as well as all of those who participated. Thanks to you, we were able to raffle off some great gear to our undergrads, as well as have some extra gear to start a free gear rental system for Earth Science field trips. Please read on if you’re interested in more information!

The UCSB AAPG student chapter has collected 2 sleeping bags, 7 sleeping pads, a tent, and an air mattress that will be part of our rental system for Earth Science field trips. Sleeping pads and the tent will be free of charge, but sleeping bags will have a $5 fee to cover the cost of cleaning. Additionally, to ensure the equipment is returned, we will ask each renter for a $25 deposit, $35 if the tent is included in their rental.

We have created a spreadsheet, UCSB AAPG Gear Rental Information, that anyone will have access to in order to check the availability of equipment. This spreadsheet will be listed on our facebook page - UCSB AAPG. If any student would like to rent equipment, they should email us at ucsbaapg@gmail.com and an officer of AAPG will work with them to book the rental.

This is a new system – so please bear with us as we work out the best way to help students! We also always welcome more donations to add to the stockpile for students!
