As the 2013-2014 school year comes to a close, 24 undergraduate students and 3 graduate TAs under Phil Gans’ leadership began a four-week field camp in NE Nevada. This domestic segment will be followed by a two-week camp in Iceland where 23 undergrads will be joined by 8 grad students and 5 faculty members from our department. The Iceland excursion is made possible by the efforts of Phil Gans last year to both preview the field sites and develop a collaboration with the University of Iceland, which is supplying both key logistics and expert guides for the field trip. We wish all participants the best of luck in their travels and look forward to having them share their experiences with the UCSB community upon their return.
