“How do I become an Earth Science undergrad major?”
answer: You must consult with the Undergraduate Staff Advisor.

“What kinds of careers can I get with an Earth Science degree?”
answer: Technically, your degree will be Geological Sciences. For further information on jobs visit Career Info page.

"How do I donate to the department"?
answer: see our department Giving page

"Where do I access the online graduate application for Earth Science and what are the important deadlines?"
answer: The application for our graduate program can be found here on the UCSB Graduate Division website: https://www.graddiv.ucsb.edu/eapp/ Our application deadline is January 1st every year.  The admission committee will admit students over the Winter quarter and accepted applicants must inform the department of their decision to attend UCSB by April 15th.

"Do students apply to work with specific graduate advisors or do they come into the program and then find an advisor to work with?"
answer: Students apply to work with advisors that do research in the field they are interested in.  Potential applicants may apply to work with more then one advisor.  When potential admits come to visit, they will meet many faculty but primarily visit with the advisor(s) with whom they will be working with.

"What kind of funding does the Department of Earth Science offer?"
answer: Our department only admits students which we have available funding.  At this time, financial packages will consist of TA ships and research positions that pay all fees and an adequate salary.  Students are also encouraged to apply for campus based and external fellowships.
