Day One, From Lee's Ferry to North Creek. I was with Peter Gross in "Sespe". We put in at noon in clear water at Lee's Ferry. The water turned murky at Paria River. Intense rock colors and deep blue sky. The first rapids always make a great impression. Memorable rapids on the first day were Badger (6), Soap Creek (5), and House Rock (7) where we got quite wet. Camped at Mile 20.5 on the west bank above North Creek Rapids. Teriaki chicken for dinner. |
