Day Eleven, from Mile 222 to Mile 279 in Lake Mead. I was with Peter Gross in "Sespe." We dropped Tanya and Yosha at Diamond Creek and took on her brother Ron and his wife Raejean. Then we rowed to Travertine Canyon and its falls at Mile 229 for a shower in fresh, warm water. I ran all the rapids from Travertine Canyon to 237 Mile Canyon in "Sespe". At Separation Canyon (Mile 239) we tied all of our boats to a long inflated tube pushed by an aluminum boat powered by two 25 hp motors. It took us nearly 8 hours to get to Scorpion Island for a late dinner in Lake Mead. The canyon is bigger and grander because the gorge is drowned by Lake Mead, so we ride higher and see more outward. Fettuchini and leftover hash for dinner. |
