Ruth Atherton (Undergraduate and Laboratory Assistant, 1989-1992): Ruth received a Ph.D. in molecular biology and a law degree and is now a Patent Counsel at Genzyme in Cambridge, MA.
Jess Adkins
(ICP-MS technician and laboratory manager, 1990-1992): Jess went on to do his Ph.D. at MIT-WHOI with Ed Boyle and is now an Assistant Professor at Caltech, Pasadena, CA.
David Chan
(Undergraduate, Laboratory Assistant, cultured live foraminifera, 1992-1995): David is an aquarist at the San Francisco Aquarium, SF, CA
Tom Mooney
(Graduate student, 1992-1995): Tom is a research scientist at Exxon Oil Company in Houston, TX.
Tracy Mashiotta
(Graduate student, 1992-1998, Ph.D. Geological Sciences 1998): Tracy is a research scientist in the ice core laboratory of Lonnie Thompson, Byrd Polar Research Center, OSU.
Pamela Martin
(Graduate student, 1992-2000, Ph.D. Geological Sciences 2000): Pam is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geophysical Sciences at the University of Chicago.
Stephen Swearer
(Graduate student, 1992-2000, Ph.D. EEMB 2000): Steve is a Lecturer (equivalent to Assistant Professor) in the Department of Zoology, University of Melbourne, Australia.
Laura Linn
(ICP-MS technician and laboratory manager, 1993-1995): Laura works in a research laboratory at the University of Alabama.
Supriyo Chakraborty
(Post-Doctoral Scholar, 1995-96): Supriyo is a research scientist at the Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeobotany (BSIP) at Lucknow. Lucknow is the capital of Uttar Pradesh and is situated north-east of Delhi, India. Supriyo is in charge of the radiocarbon laboratory at BSIP.
Apurva Davé
(Graduate Student, 1996-2000. M.S. Geological Sciences) 2000: Apurva is teaching High School in Tampa, Florida.
Annie Schilla
(Undergraduate, Laboratory Assistant, 1996-1999): Annie is a graduate student working on Greenland ice cores with Jim White at the University of Colorado, Boulder.
Qianli Xie
(ICP-MS technician and laboratory manager, 1997-1997): Qianli is a research scientist at Laurentia University in Canada.
Dayle Gates
(Undergraduate, Laboratory Assistant, 1997-2000): Dayle is diving out of Dana Point for Dan Reed, a UCSB biologist. They are studying reef installation techiques as a mitigation to the warm water effluent from the San Onofre nuclear power plant.
Daniel Schuller
(Undergraduate, Laboratory Assistant, 1999-2000, Foram Culturing, Puerto Rico, 1999 and Catalina, 2000): Danny completed graduate studies at RSMAS (Miami) working with David Kadko on U-series dating of whale falls and hydrothermal plumes. He is now part of the seagoing technical staff at SIO. He spends half his time at sea!
Petra Dekens
(Graduate Student, 1999-2001; M.S. Marine Sciences, 2001): Petra is a Ph.D. student at UCSC with Christina Ravello working on tropical Pacific climate evolution.
Peter von Langen
(Graduate Student, 1996-2001: Ph.D. Marine Sciences, 2001): Peter is working for the state on water quality issues in San Luis Obispo, CA.
Danielle Zacherl ( Graduate Student 1996-2002; Ph.D. EEMB, 2002): Danielle is an Assistant Professor at Cal State Fullerton.
Jonathan Blythe (Undergraduate Researcher, Laboratory Assistant, 1999-2002): Jonathan is working on his Ph.D. in the MIT-WHOI Joint Program in Oceanography.
Joshua Horton (UG Laboratory Assistant, 2002-2004): Josh is a graduate student in marine science at the University of South Carolina.
Amelia Shevenell (Graduate Student, 2001-2005): Amelia is a post-doctoral scholar at the University of Washington.
Christina Belanger (UG Laboratory Assistant, 2003-2005): Christina is a graduate student and NSF Fellow in geophysical sciences at the University of Chicago.
