Our Dynamic Planet CD-ROM

Professory Prothero's easy to use CD-ROM full of data relevant to the theory of plate tectonics (topography, quakes, volcanoes, seafloor age, heat flow, island ages). It is used in his introductory Oceanography class, where students find evidence to support the theory and write a 6-8 page paper presenting their findings. The CD works on Macintosh and PC computers and includes 30 minutes of Prof. Atwater's original video, used by many of us to teach the theory of plate tectonics. Click the link to access the Oceanography home page and find out how to get the "Our Dynamic Planet" CDROM.

MacOrogeny

MacOrogeny is an interactive program for the Macintosh that illustrates the major orogenic (mountain-building) events affecting North America in the past 500 million years. MacOrogeny was developed in the early 90s by Professor Bruce Tiffney with the assistance of several students, and is currently only available for the Macintosh. If there is sufficient interest, we will create a cross-platform version of the program. To express your interest, E-mail the (Webmaster). Since this program is in "Beta-test-stage", if you discover any glitches (and Murphy's Law dictates that you will), we would appreciate your communicating them.
